The National Senior Director of Credit & Collections reports to the Chief Accounting Officer, and is located in Mansfield, MA.
POSITION SUMMARY:
TriMark is hiring a National Senior Director of Credit & Collections to manage our National Credit & Collections department and develop our processes, evolving into a world-class function. The Senior Director will devise and implement solutions that:
- Improve our cash conversion cycle
- Optimize our credit risk
- Improve/update collections policies and procedures and implement nationally
- Provide the reporting necessary for the business leaders to grow their business.
This role will report to the CAO and interact regularly with Regional Executive Vice Presidents, Business Unit Leadership and Finance Teams, and Center of Excellence Partners.
The candidate for this role has to be able to create and communicate a vision for how credit and collections policies support profitable business growth while balancing financial risk to the company. The role requires close interaction with the Sales leadership and broad involvement in the entire order-to-cash process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor credit risk, aging AR, and other credit & collections metrics, and identify whether credit strategy is effective and performing as expected
- Analyze current credit risk and develop and communicate company credit strategy and risk tolerance, in collaboration and interaction with the company’s leadership
- Have a strong voice in discussions with Strategy, Sales, and Product to identify credit program features that balance growth and financial risk
- Manage a team of credit and collections specialists
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Sales, Finance, Legal and various business owners to ensure clear communication with customers
- Build out world-class reporting functionality that allows management to precisely understand our credit portfolio risk
- Develop performance forecasts that take into account a variety of economic, market, and customer-specific factors
- Take current credit and collections processes to the next level, including formalizing escalation procedures and processes
- Set objectives for the collections team that align with Finance & Accounting department goals and ensure team goals are met
- Improve current collections metrics by effectively manage day-to-day collections activities and motivating the teams to identify, resolve, and mitigate account delinquencies
- Manage bad debt expense forecasting and assessment process
- Be the voice of Credit and AR metrics towards senior management, e.g., during Monthly Business Reviews, on credit risk issues, recommendations, and progress
COMPETENCIES:
- Self-motivated, ability to analyze, create a vision and move towards that vision with minimal guidance. Ability to thrive in ambiguity and self-direct
- Expertise in credit underwriting and risk mitigation
- Excellent communication skills required, ability to work positively and collaboratively with stakeholders like Sales who are managed to different incentives
- Organizational talent and follow-through, knows how to identify stakeholders, establish relationships, and exert influence to get work done
- Excellent analysis and decision-making skills; can balance attention to detail with strategic planning and long-term vision
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of Finance experience including credit management
- 10+ years of management experience required
- Ability to successfully pass a background check
