Registered Nurse – Endoscopy
PRN
Position Summary:
* Provides direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standardsof practice.
* Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, aswell as other medical care treatment.
* Documents patient care given.
* Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
* Assists in providing emergency patient care while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
* Assists the physician by providing appropriate patient positioning based on procedure and physicianpreference, monitoringphysical status of patient, to administer drugs, solutions as prescribed and in fluid management of thepatient.
* Manages culture/specimen collection, handling, and disposition according to departmental policy and procedure.
* Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge,referraland spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
* Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture,condition, and circumstances.
* Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Registered Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact Staterequired
* Bachelor’s degreepreferred
* Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Associationrequired
* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Associationrequiredor within six (6) months ofhire
* One (1) year Medical/Surgical experiencepreferred
* Requires critical thinking skills, decisivejudgmentand the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able towork in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action.
* Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns includingweekendsand holidays toensurecontinuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients ofSovahHealth Danville on all units.
