*Position Summary:*

Serves as a liaison in explaining charges (hospital, physician and clinic) and assisting with applications for reduced fees and all other billing questions. Performs the verification of correct patient insurance plan and ensures authorization criteria has been met and is accurate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Serves as a resource and liaison between the patient/family, referral source, clinics, and physicians.
Provides accurate, timely processing of patient information for billing purposes including but not limited to, demographics, insurance verification, and authorization
Works with external agencies and assists patients with eligibility requirements.
Monitors all self-pay, pending Medicaid, and less than full insurance coverage throughout treatment course to evaluate and educate patients of their financial responsibility
Assists patients with contacting insurance companies and internal insurance department when questions arise concerning services covered and payment of services
Retrieves and distributes insurance correspondence to physicians, APP’s, nurses, and coworkers

*Minimum Qualifications:*

Minimum Education
High School diploma or equivalent
Associate’s degree (Preferred)
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Work Experience
1 year billing or insurance experience required
3 years in collection/finance preferred
