**Job Summary**

***This is a part-time opportunity | 16 hours per week.

The Peer Review Abstractor concurrently and retrospectively monitors, through medical record review, the quality of care, utilization of resources and risk management of patient care in accordance with guidelines and criteria established by Sanford Medical Staff. Collaborates with regional counterparts to standardize processes and activities related to data entry, case review and case abstraction. Assists enterprise peer review and regional directors of provider services in providing information about and from the ongoing monitoring systems to designated persons or committees for use in the medical quality management activities and the re-credentialing process. Not expected to have patient contact. Identify areas in medical care that are not up to the standard set by the criteria. Use clinical background to make decisions regarding patient care with regards to the established criteria.

**Qualifications**

Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).

Minimum of ten years of diverse hospital clinical experience.

Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
