Job Title: Tooling Die Shop Tech
Position Type: Full-Time, Contract-to-Hire
Location: Melbourne, FL (North)
Pay: $20-$25/hr.
 
Summary:
LEAD Technical is currently looking for Tooling Die Shop Tech for our client in the North Melbourne area. In this role, you will be responsible for machining and maintaining tooling in this production environment, utilizing mills and lathes. This is a CONTRACT-TO-HIRE role that is available immediately.
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Perform maintenance and machining duties in line with the needs of production.
  • Develop, implement and maintain several department tool management programs.
  • Inspect new tooling for quality. Log and position into inventory.
  • Select, issue, repair and maintain rollers to achieve quality production requirements.
  • Receive, inspect, clean, repair and store tooling.
  • Document continuous improvement opportunities for quality and productivity.
  • Interact with Department Leaders and Production Manager on scheduling, quality and production issues.
  • Interact with Process and Design Engineers to create new ideas.
  • Determine causes of defects; consult with engineering and production on technical issues.
  • Conduct periodic inventories and ensure the availability of required tooling, materials and supplies.
  • Plan and prepare quotes and purchase requisition for inventory.
 
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working with general machine shop equipment. Mill and lathe experience preferable.
  • Ability to read and edit blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as hardness testers, micrometers, calipers and indicators
  • Knowledge of materials and applications
  • Previous experience planning, performing and following-up on assigned job tasks.
  • Knowledge of SAP ordering systems
  • Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs.
  • Good mathematics skills.
