*Position Summary:*
This staff position within Raleigh General Hospital, provides direct support to all RGH Facilities. The position is responsible for ensuring the facilities maintain safety and security compliance with the standards propagated by The Joint Commission, CMS, EPA, and other applicable regulatory and accrediting agencies. This position requires an individual with personal initiative and motivation to accomplish tasks without direct supervision and oversight. This position requires someone with a wide breadth of general safety knowledge and good communication skills. This position reports to the Chief Operations Officer (COO) guided by the Environment of Care committee. (EOC)
*Essential Functions:*
Performs hazardous materials monitoring (environmental and personal monitoring) and communicates results to leadership and applicable managers. Provides follow-up for corrective action plans. Reports findings to the ECO committee
Assists with development of a safety emergency management, and disaster plans. Plans are to be reviewed and updated annually.
Assists in the development and implementation of safety policies/procedures, safety education, and hazard surveillance programs for the All RGH Facilities.
Assists with the responsibility for the overall fire/safety plan in the hospitals and clinics.
Assists with fire drills and emergency preparedness drills within the hospitals and clinics.
Responsible for supporting the Seven Elements of the Environment of Care.
Chairs the EOC and participates on various associated committees, subcommittees and tasks forces by appointment; provides recommendations and assists with corrective actions.
Provides technical assistance and support to various hospital departments in the development, review, and evaluation of departmental-level safety programs.
Presents departmentally specific safety information and training for new employees and re-training for current employees as required.
Participates in Emergency Preparedness and response activities to include training activities, drills, and plan activations.
Responds to emergencies as appropriate for training and assignment within the needs of the organization.
Assumes responsibility to report safety information to the EOC.
Oversee an organization’s security department.
Participates in regulatory inspections as needed.
Manages and trains security guards.
Hires and on boards new security guards.
Monitors security guard staffing schedule.
Creates all security policies and procedures.
Conducts regular security inspections.
Investigates security threats and breaches.
Writes comprehensive security reports.
Coordinates Administrative duties within maintenance office. Performs delegated tasks from Department Director as needed to ensure department operations run effectively/efficiently.
Other duties relevant to the Hospital/Clinic Safety and Training Program, as assigned.
Participates as leader in the Plant Operations Department, attending training as necessary and serves as Director when Director is out of the office.

*Minimum Education*
High school diploma required.
Associate degree preferred.
*Required Skills*
Applicant must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective report writing, training, and consulting. Must be familiar with common computer programs including, Word, Power Point, and Excel. Travel required for participation in local, regional, and statewide safety management forums and programs.
