Job Title: Assistant Controller 

Location: Near Midtown, Tampa, FL (In-office role) 

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM (Must be flexible for extended hours during month-end and critical financial periods)

At LEAD, our financial team is the backbone of our strategic decision-making. We are seeking a highly organized and disciplined Assistant Controller who will bring a solid GAAP accounting foundation, exceptional QuickBooks and Excel skills, and a hands-on approach to financial management. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail and the leadership skills to drive compliance and efficiency within our dynamic team. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure rigorous financial controls and procedures are in place, with a hands-on role in payroll oversight, ensuring alignment with billing and compliance with policies. 

  • Conduct thorough weekly payroll & billing audits to maintain financial balance and account for transactions, including garnishments, advances, and deductions. 

  • Lead monthly financial close processes, including reconciliations and the preparation of both branch and consolidated financial statements. 

  • Maintain state filing compliance, including quarterly reports and registration, along with monthly workers' compensation self-audits. 

  • Manage the tracking and reconciliation of advances and conduct routine audits of employee and customer files, job logs, and time sheets. 

  • Handle daily accounts receivable entries in QuickBooks and manage weekly funding requests and cash transfers in coordination with team members. 

Core Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior accounting role. 

  • Strong knowledge of QuickBooks with the ability to create custom reports and manage multi-entity “Class” accounting. 

  • Proficient in Excel with skills in intermediate formula development and an intuitive approach to creating clear, concise spreadsheets. 

  • Experience with multi-state payroll and reporting requirements, demonstrating exceptional organizational skills. 

  • Proven leadership ability, with a diplomatic approach to implementing and enforcing company policies and processes at all levels. 

  • Skill in developing and writing policies and processes, with a detail-oriented and systematic approach to managing workloads. 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with MS Access. 

  • A passion for details, intellectual curiosity, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
