*Position Summary:*
Delivers perioperative care to the surgical patient through nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation.
Assures optimum quality patient care by serving as resource person for other staff members, patient and family.
Coordinates patient care within surgical services and with other departments.
Assists the physician.
Supervises other registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, nursing assistants and technicians.
Manages supply operations for designated service line specialty
Maintains open communication with OR and MM staff at all levels
Acts as a team leader to insure that all work and storage areas are clean and orderly daily
Drive continuous improvement
Assumes responsibility for patient’s care in the operating room or procedure room as assigned
Directs activities of operative procedure in room assigned
Maintains accurate documentation of perioperative care
Assists in maintenance of a clean and orderly environment
Communicates with charge nurses, physicians and other team members
Participates in continuing education
Accepts responsibilities as a charge nurse
Delivers direct patient care appropriate to the age of patient served
Reports to: Surgical Services Director
*Minimum Education*
x Graduate of a Program in Discipline â–¡ Preferred x Required
*Required Skills*
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:
â–¡ Basic Life Support (BLS) to be obtained within 3 months
â–¡ Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 6 months
â–¡ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) to be obtained within 6 months
