**Description**

**Audiologist Per Diem – Fortuna, CA**

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Audiologist to join our team in a beautiful rural area. In this position, you will work closely with three Otolaryngologists, which includes one Otologist, providing comprehensive audiological services to patients of all ages. This would include working with adult cochlear implant patients, and osseointegrated implant patients. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the well-being of individuals in a picturesque setting while collaborating with a highly specialized team of healthcare professionals.

**Essential Functions:**

+ Conduct comprehensive audiological evaluations, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, immittance testing, and otoacoustic emissions, to assess patients’ hearing abilities.

+ Perform specialized diagnostic tests such as caloric testing, electrocochleography (ECochG), and vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP) as necessary.

+ Interpret audiological test results and collaborate with the ENT surgeons to develop appropriate treatment plans.

+ Recommend and provide fitting, programming, and adjustment of hearing aids, cochlear implants, and other assistive listening devices to address patients’ hearing loss.

+ Conduct hearing aid evaluations, selection, and verification, utilizing real ear measurements and other objective measures to ensure optimal amplification.

+ Provide counseling and education to patients and their families on hearing loss, communication strategies, and hearing conservation.

+ Collaborate closely with Otolaryngologists to evaluate and manage patients with complex auditory disorders, including cochlear implants, osseointegrated implants, tinnitus, vertigo, and balance disorders.

+ Conduct comprehensive evaluations and programming for cochlear implant recipients, including speech perception testing, electrode mapping, and troubleshooting.

+ Provide ongoing counseling and support to cochlear implant recipients and their families, addressing their unique communication and rehabilitation needs.

+ Stay current with advancements in cochlear implant technology and contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new devices and strategies.

+ Collaborate with the ENT surgeons and otologist in the evaluation, selection, and management of patients with osseointegrated implants, ensuring optimal hearing outcomes.

+ Coordinate with external audiology centers and manufacturers to facilitate the maintenance, upgrades, and repairs of cochlear implants and osseointegrated implants for patients.

+ Maintain thorough documentation of cochlear implant and osseointegrated implant evaluations, programming parameters, and follow-up care in patient records.

+ Educate patients and their families about the benefits, limitations, and care requirements of cochlear implants and osseointegrated implants, promoting their successful integration into daily life.

+ Proven experience in conducting comprehensive audiological evaluations and managing patients with diverse hearing needs

+ Strong knowledge of diagnostic audiological testing, including pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, immittance testing, and objective measures.

+ Proficiency in fitting and programming hearing aids and other assistive listening devices.

+ Familiarity with cochlear implants, osseointegrated implants, and other implantable hearing devices.

+ Proven experience in conducting comprehensive evaluations and programming for cochlear implant recipients as well as supervising aural rehabilitation.

+ Knowledge of current advancements and best practices in cochlear implant and osseointegrated implant management.

+ Ability to work closely with manufacturers and external audiology centers to ensure the appropriate maintenance and care of implantable devices.

+ Experience in providing counseling and support to patients and their families throughout the cochlear implant and osseointegrated implant journey.

**Required qualifications:**

+ Master’s Degree in Audiology or

+ Ph.D. Audiology (Au.D.).

+ Upon hire: California Audiologist License

**Preferred qualifications:**

+ 1 year Experience in outpatient setting
