*Position Summary*

Performs a variety of duties relating to the purchasing of materials, equipment, merchandise and supplies; processes departmental requests based on contract compliance and the hospitals best interest. Coordinates requisitions, acquisitions and processes. Strives for cost and utilization reduction.
*Reports to:*Director of Materials Management

*Responsibilities of the Position*

Managing par levels of supplies.

Ordering of supplies to reach par levels.

Requisitioning of supplies.

Checking on backorders.

Counting of Inventory.

Maintains proper communication with all departments and suppliers.

Screens and audits request for purchase for appropriate authority levels and places corresponding orders within two working days.

Evaluates availability of product and uses GPO contracts as preferred source when placing orders.

Assists all departments with researching of items, pricing etc.

Resolves discrepancies in orders receipts and invoices.

Corrects issues within the department and automated system.

negotiates with suppliers. Follows up with issues.

Strives for compliance within our group purchasing affiliation.

Coordinate and monitor GPO contracts.

Reduces cost, strives for cost reduction.

Share ideas about performance improvement and streamlining processes.

Demonstrates system proficiencies and able to discuss MM issues with MIS.

Sets up new items in VIRA.

Sets up new patient charge items and add to FPROC.

Credential and adds new vendors in VIRA.

Process all incoming and outgoing Mail for the facility.

Does shipping of all outgoing packages for the facility.

Assists with delivering of supplies as needed.

Pulls requisitions as needed.

Add items to par levels for all departments as assigned.**

*Minimum Education***

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

*Required Skills***

Excellent attention to detail.

Strong organizational, computer, and communication skills.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Critical thinking skills, requires working with minimal supervision, must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Must be a self-starter, have a strong work ethic, and be able to quickly shift priorities in a busy work environment.

*Minimum Work Experience***

2 Years Inventory Control or Warehouse Experience preferred

Previous healthcare materials management experience preferred.

2-3 years purchasing experience preferred.
