Position Overview for the Cancer Registrar:  

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Review and analyze electronic medical records to extract and document clinical, pathological, therapeutic, and epidemiologic data according to established oncology data collection standards.

  • Cancer Registry Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of cancer patients, including ongoing follow-up information and conducting statistical analyses as required by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACoS).

  • Compliance and Quality Control: Ensure all cancer registry activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, maintaining the highest level of patient privacy and data accuracy, and participate in routine quality control reviews of abstracts.

  • Tumor Board Coordination: Organize tumor board meetings by preparing necessary imaging and pathology cases, managing AV equipment, and ensuring all documentation is properly handled for discussions.

Required Skills for the Cancer Registrar:  

  • Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) Certification: Must be ODS-certified and hold a valid CTR certification upon hire, with a solid understanding of oncology data collection standards and medical terminology.

  • Experience with Cancer Registry Software: Proficient in cancer data collection applications such as CNExT, with experience using electronic health records (EHR) systems like EPIC, and strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

  • Knowledge of Oncology Data and Coding: In-depth knowledge of cancer staging mechanisms, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding systems, and the cancer disease process, including tumor nomenclature and medical procedures.

  • Strong Organizational and Communication Skills: Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and maintain strong verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with healthcare providers and non-medical individuals.

Compensation Details:$35-$38/hr. W2. NOT OPEN TO C2C.
