*Position Summary:*

The Cardiovascular Department Team Lead functions as a cardiovascular imaging professional. The role and responsibilities includes the supervision of sonography staff as well as professional development oversight of sonography staff.He/she is responsible for directing and overseeing the daily activities to assure safe delivery of patient care. The Cardiovascular Department Team Lead participates in direct patient care, performs ultrasounds in accordance with lab protocols and standard practices, and serves as a role model for the team.Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as appropriate based on the level of patient contact this position requires.

Reports to: Director Cardiac Services

*Responsibilities of the Position*

* Provide education and training to sonographers in the utilization of new equipment and scanning techniques.
* Provide general supervision and evaluation of staff and assist in the growth and development of team members.
* Provide oversight for the assessment of sonography examinations for technical and image quality and accuracy.
* Ensure staff compliance with clinical and operational protocols, policies, and procedures.
* Ensure that staff have timely access to supplies and logistical support.
* Exercise responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Cardiovascular Lab.
* Assist with the direction and guidance for departmental workflow and workload scheduling.
* Exercise responsibility for staff schedules.
* Assist the Cardiovascular Lab Director with management of the department budget.
* Assist in implementation and carrying out Performance Improvement initiatives, protocols, policies, and procedures.
* Performs required quality control checks.
* Assures the procurement, storage and routing of supplies for room operation.
* Ensures reusable instruments are maintained and disinfected as required.
* Mentors and evaluates ultrasound students as required.
* Communicates technical and patient care related information according to established processes and timelines.
* Other duties as assigned.

_*Qualifications*_

* Demonstrates ability to mentor and support team members__
* Demonstrates accountability, responsibility, effective teamwork, delegation, communication, respect, personal development, and development of team members__
* Knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound principles, concepts and methodology sufficient to perform high quality diagnostic studies.
* Knowledge of ultrasound physics and instrumentation sufficient to identify and eliminate artifact and optimize images.
* Ability to operate, maintain and troubleshoot cardiovascular equipment.

_*Job Requirements*_

Education: High school graduate or GED equivalency.

Graduate of CAAHEP approved school of ultrasound or cardiovascular technology or equivalent experience.

Current certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) OR certification within one year of hire date.

BLS certification is required upon hire.
