Overview

Provides direct and indirect patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Meets the physical, psychosocial, religious/cultural and needs of the patient and family. Communicates effectively with all members of the health care team as appropriate about changes in the patient’s condition or response to treatment.

The Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse is responsible for assisting the cardiologist in diagnostic cardiac catheterizations on adult patients and providing quality nursing care, assessing and managing patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab. Additionally, the Cardiac Cath Lab Registered Nurse will assist the cardiologists in all aspects of invasive cardiology, including scrubbing, circulating, monitoring and recording hemodynamic parameters in accordance to policy and procedure.

Reports to: Cath Lab Supervisor

*Minimum Education*
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

*Minimum Work Experience*
Three years cardiac catheterization, ICU, CCU or ED experience preferred. Minimum 2 years critical care experience and working with hemodynamic waveforms and vaso-active medications.

*Required Skills*
Licensure/Certification: Appropriate state licensure as Registered Nurse. Current BLS certification required and ACLS certification required within 6 months of employment. Certification of completion of basic EKG and dysrhythmia course within one week of hire.

*Required Skills*
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
