Overview
Functions as the clinical expert, educator, consultant, leader and researcher for clinical information systems and is responsible for helping to plan, organize, and manage an effective performance improvement function for all departments of Bell. Elements include: safe environment, compliance, clinical standards, patient advocacy, and an on-going systematic performance improvement program.
Follows established policies and procedures, objectives, safety standards, and sensitivity to confidential information.
Willing and able to demonstrate appropriate core competencies annually or as requested.
Responsible for planning, development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation, and training of information system projects to improve the clinical process..
Functions as an internal consultant and resource to all clinical personnel and will provide direction and education for all clinical information initiatives in accordance with the strategic objective of the hospital.
Continually monitors and evaluates opportunities for technical innovations and enhancements for the clinical areas, ensure that the applications and systems utilized are consistent with professional standards of best clinical nursing practice.
Responsible for the Meditech implementation efforts to include, design, build, change management, and training.
Formulates and tests the learning modules for nursing and physicians (utilizing learning scenarios, competencies, training aids, and memory cues).
Actively participates in organizational leadership, identification of improvement opportunities, and policy development.
Collaborates in development of quality measurement tools for strategic planning, objective measurement identification and targeted outcomes.
Assures that programs, initiatives, processes, and policies are in compliance with state, federal, and other accrediting bodies/regulatory agencies.
Manages data collection to evaluate organizational outcomes and submits accurate data in a timely manner as required by regulatory agencies; or as part of any volunteer/collaborative initiative.
Fosters excellent customer service through role modeling, staff education, and compliance with Bell’s mission, vision, and values.
Assures a healthy work environment by examination of internal customer interactions. Promotes optimal professional collaboration among all staff, including medical staff.
Participates in selected committee meetings for the purpose of maintaining information flow between key workgroups and to promote interdepartmental cooperation.
Accepts, interprets, and implements policies and procedures set forth by Bell Hospital; effectively communicates these to personnel, patients, and their families.
Maintains confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Support the culture of service excellence throughout the organization.
Actively seek ways to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and participate in professional development opportunities.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Completes annual educational requirements.
Understands and adheres to Bell’s compliance standards as they appear in Bell’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

*Minimum Education*Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Preferred: Advanced degree or completion of a management program.
*Required Skills*Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Licensed as a Registered Nursing the State of Michigan. Primary Source Verification: Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
*Minimum Work Experience*Significant experience in health care setting in nursing, health information management, and/or quality management. Preferred: A previous position in healthcare setting similar to the one described herein. Experience using Meditech.
