Overview

**Description**

Under the general direction of the Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer, remains responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and management of Kadlec Clinic and a group of patient care areas including the practice of professional nursing, patient care quality, operations, department planning and development, employee development, and evaluation of services. Responsible for the development and oversight of the population-based clinical care management and utilization program for VBC, ensuring appropriate levels of staffing, effective and efficient teams, a sound infrastructure and appropriate policies to produce excellent outcomes. Provides administrative support to a team of Administrative Directors and managers in assigned patient care areas as well as ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and standards of practice; and integrates and coordinates services using a proven hands-on approach. Participates as a member of the Kadlec Clinic Quality Sub-Committee and coordinates clinical quality initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

+ Embraces the Kadlec Caregiver Expectations-Standards of Excellence to provide a safe, comfortable, therapeutic, patient-centered environment.

+ Understands, embraces, and instills Kadlec’s Mission, Vision and Values.

+ Establishes, promotes, and implements patient care standards based on the nursing process and current nursing research. Utilizes available resources for state-of-the-art nursing practice and education.

+ Maintains and enhances clinical quality as defined by our physicians, evidence-based practices, patients, and referring physicians.

+ Partners with Physicians, Service Line Directors, and other leaders within Kadlec to develop quality initiative and facilitate the design of a strong patient delivery system.

+ Communicates regularly with the COO/CNO or designee that involve staff issues, critical patient care concerns, unit staffing changes, quality issues, and other pertinent data.

+ Assures that all staff attends required competency education programs and continuing education offerings pertinent to area, time, and budget constraints.

+ Utilizes staff and physician input for ongoing feedback and improvement.

+ Identifies learning needs of staff and collaborates with individual on developing employee development plans.

+ Provides various opportunities for communication inter- and intra-departmentally including, but not limited to monthly staff meetings, contributions to the newsletter, postings, journals, etc.

+ Supports clinic hospital wide functions through committee attendance and/or delegation for quality improvement activities, policy and procedure development and updates, program development, etc.

+ Supports organization program development.

+ Responds to Patient Advocacy and Quality Review Issues per department procedure in a timely manner.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

+ Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing

+ Master’s Degree in Nursing, other healthcare field, or business from an accredited educational institution, or actively enrolled in a qualifying Master’s Degree program from an accredited educational institution

+ Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License (Vendor Managed)

+ 5 years of healthcare experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting

+ 3 years of healthcare management experience (preferred)

+ Joint Commission experience (preferred)

+ Leadership experience in a surgery center or specialty outpatient environment

+ Bi-lingual or multi-lingual skills preferred

+ Excellent communication skills

+ Ability to manage conflict situations on the unit with patients, families, staff, physicians and other hospital personnel

+ Ability to offer alternative methods for problem solving; seeks guidance from in-house experts

+ Ability to demonstrate effective problem-solving skills through active listening, research, data analysis and documentation

+ Ability to provide direct patient care to facilitate an understanding of direct patient care perspectives and staff issues on the unit

+ Ability to utilize data, resources, communication and knowledge to make decisions. Demonstrates accountability for decisions by effectively communicating goals, objectives, strategies and expected results of decision

+ Ability to identify and respond to staff that seeks additional responsibilities and provides opportunities to develop within the department

+ Ability to participate in management development programs offered at the Medical Center and other pertinent clinical conferences to enhance personal and professional growth

+ Ability to utilize resources (internal, networking, Internet, professional organizations, etc.) for department management and innovative approaches to promulgate operational excellence.
