*Position Summary:*

To plan, administer and direct operations of rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary and sports medicine departments for the health system. Provide supervision of Occupational, Physical and Speech Therapy staff, clinical and non- clinical, across outpatient clinics, inpatient rehab, and acute care. Provide supervision to Cardiopulmonary Rehab program, including direct oversight of all clinical and non- clinical staff. Provide supervision to sports medicine staff, including athletic training staff. Analyzes day-to-day operations to include but not limited to budgetary, financial, and regulatory compliance.

*Responsibilities of the Position:*

Works with board of directors and department heads to develop short- and long-range plans and goals aimed at providing quality patient care that answers the needs of the community. Allocates financial and space resources between departments on the basis of these decisions.

Works with controller and each department head to develop yearly budgets and effective controls on expenditures. Plans department staffing on basis of projected income and operating expenses.

Works with controller to review patient fee structure and makes adjustments as required.

Works with human resources department and makes final decisions on selection of department heads.

Works with department heads to develop interdepartmental training programs for staff.

Works with safety committee to establish safety protocols for facility and comply with government health and safety regulations.

Ensures departmental adherence to medical center policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance

Manages programs for assigned departments, develops, and implements new clinical and non-clinical programs

Ensures compliance with all agencies having jurisdiction, provides reliability of equipment performance and provides structural conditions and appearance which promotes quality of patient care.

Manages department requirements for TJC and CMS

Plans and recommends capital expenditures including modernization of equipment, retro-fittings of building systems and development of physical facilities. Evaluates equipment to be purchased for compatibility, functionality, and maintenance required.

Participates in developing programs, policies and procedures that impact the safety and protection of patients, visitors, and staff.

Participates in the preparation of and monitors the various departments’ operating budgets and financial reports.

Maintains a sanitary and safe operation in accordance with federal, state, and local health regulations.

Establishes and revises, with each manager, standards of performance (quality and quantity) for the departments.

Effectively represents the needs of administration to the managers and staffs of those departments regarding performance, budget concerns, etc.

Oversees, in conjunction with the Executive team, the recruiting, hiring, terminating, evaluating, scheduling, and counseling of all assigned departments

Contributes to strategic planning, annual report, and monthly operations review

Participates in the facilities’ performance improvement activities and patient satisfaction initiatives

Participates in the development of other staff members

Adheres to facilities’ legal and ethical standards

Initiation of special projects

Possesses skills and knowledge in the following areas: principles of organization, theories of management, human resources management, strategies of nursing management, financial management, foundations of health laws, and statistics and research methodology.

*Required Education*

Bachelor’s Degree is required.

Master’s degree in healthcare, business administration, or leadership is preferred.

*Licenses/Certifications*

Licenses: Licensed (or eligible) to legally practice OT, PT or SLP in North Carolina is required.

*Required Work Experience*

Two – five years of supervisory/management experience in a health care setting is required.

*Required Skills*

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Highly organized, systematic, and able to function consistently in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent leadership and managerial skills, preferably in a healthcare setting.

Ability to interact with a wide range of constituencies

High level of initiative; able to manage competing priorities and short deadlines

Computer proficiency preferred

Excellent interpersonal skills to achieve strong client, physician, and referral relationship

Strong communication skills (verbal and written) required to interact with hospital administration, physicians, staff, and communities served.

Knowledge of rehabilitation programs, services, and evidenced based care practices, procedures, techniques, laws, regulations, and standards required.

Knowledge of care transition models and disease management and rehabilitation services indications.

Knowledge of organizational theory and practice, group dynamics, decision making processes, human resource management, financial management, and marketing.

Functional understanding of regulatory guidelines.
