The Director of Warehouse Operations reports to the VP of Warehouse Operations, and is located in Winston-Salem, NC.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Warehouse Operations is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership for a high volume, order fulfillment, multi-use major distribution center within the TriMark USA System. This position will administer all functions to ensure timely accurate product receipt, order fulfillment, and the optimization of resources and processes while operating within budget. In addition, develop and implement best practice processes to ensure compliance with company policies/procedures, continual process improvement and drive employee initiatives to create and promote an environment where employees are involved and committed to the success of the Company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify key opportunities to leverage and improve processes affecting the warehouse operation, including defining appropriate metrics, and leading in process improvement
  • Drive strong inventory control and management through use of all available tools and resources, utilizing reporting and communication with sales and operations to enforce compliance and action
  • Perform weekly cycle counts with the goal of counting the entire inventory at least twice a year
  • Lead annual physical inventory process to include warehouse preparation, team training, physical count, and reconciliation
  • Pro-active reporting and communication on slow moving and obsolete inventories
  • Coordination with other sites and team members, including other TriMark divisions
  • Implement efficient product slotting and warehouse design to streamline workflow
  • Provide leadership for employees in a manner that both maximizes and optimizes resources in support of the company’s goals and objectives in serving customers
  • Design and implement staffing strategies to ensure work force is flexible and can respond to variations in workflow
  • Ensure standardization and sharing of best-demonstrated practices
  • Ensure the company’s physical assets (building, equipment, inventory, etc.) are properly controlled, maintained, protected and utilized
  • Ensure superior customer service to customers and internal partners by delivering on shipping commitments to customers
  • Maintain orderly and clean warehouse

COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven leadership skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experienced in operating various Forklifts
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive employee, customer and cross-functional team relations
  • Ability to effectively promote and lead change with strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills
  • Ensure compliance with Company, OSHA, DOT, and EPA regulations and power industrial equipment requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university
  • 10+ years’ experience in managing distribution center specializing in restaurant, foodservice and hospitality industries preferred.  Similar experience or work environments will be considered.
  • Basic understanding of financial principles relative to expense management and working capital
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check
