*Position Summery:*

The Director of Professional Clinical Practice is responsible for enhancing the clinical professional practice across the enterprise. This role will assess, develop, and provide evidence-based, educational programs and policies that promote and advance professional competency for nursing. In addition, the Director of Professional Clinical Practice will build and maintain critical external relationships with faculty, health care systems, associations, professional societies, and organizations. The position will report to the Vice President of Organizational & People Development, with a dotted line to the System Chief Nurse Executive.

*Essential Functions:*

* Lead an enterprise strategy for professional development and implement tactical plans.
* Oversee the design, development, and execution of all professional development programming with responsibility for achieving results and established targets.
* Responsible for defining standard orientation/onboarding programs, and competency process to quantify learning needs of the clinical workforce.
* Research the evidence to discover innovative, effective, and efficient practices for increasing competencies, advancing the clinical career, improving clinical education and meet the ongoing and future needs of the clinical workforce.
* Research, select, and develop instructional tools, audio-visual materials, and evaluation methods to implement programs of clinical education.
* Analyze data to evaluate the effectiveness of onboarding to achieve the organizational goals, including retention.
* Proactively initiates needs assessment and gap analysis to identify new areas for competency assessment.
* Work in collaboration and provide support to the System Chief Nurse Executive, Chief Nursing Officers, Nursing Directors and/or facility Clinical Educators to identify opportunities to advance the clinical profession.
* Collaborate with the Quality and Clinical Operations team to support and enforce The Joint Commission, CMS, and State requirements as they relate to required education.
* Collaborate with Workforce Solutions team to provide support and guidance for nursing students and assist with launch of new programs.
* Collaborate with Learning Technology & Design team to create comprehensive clinical learning modules and will have administrative access to HealthStream (LME) to review existing clinical content and build curricula, run reports, and assign content to users when needed.
* Review clinical content (1) from vendors to determine relevancy, need, contracting, and purchasing, and (2) developed by our facilities and making recommendations and/or revisions to content to ensure consistency and branding standards are met.

*Qualifications:*

* *Education:*Master’s degree in nursing/master’s in nursing education, required
* *Experience:*5 years’ experience in acute care facility in a leadership role required; 3-5 years of experience in healthcare as a clinical educator with program design expertise that is focused on improving quality and safety of care required
* *Certifications:*Nursing Professional Development certification through American Nurses Credentialing Center or Certified Health Education Specialist certification, preferred
* *Licenses:*Licensed as appropriate in the State of practice
