*Position Summary:*

A member of the Emergency Department, who under the supervision of the ED Director and Registered nurse, in collaboration with ED Medical Providers, delivers safe, competent clinical support for patients of all ages including neonates, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The ED Tech performs a variety of patient related duties under the supervision of the RN. Tasks that may be assigned to an ED tech include the follow:

1. Assemble crutches
2. Assemble equipment
3. Assist with admission and discharge of patients
4. Collect and transport specimens
5. Obtain vital signs
6. Clean wounds
7. Bandage and dress wounds
8. Simple splinting of extremities
9. Perform 12-lead electrocardiograms
10. Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation
11. Suture removal
12. Phlebotomy/specimen collection/Point of care testing
13. Initiate IV therapy (e.g. IV locks)
14. Place leads for cardiac monitoring.
15. Assist with spinal immobilization/stabilization
16. Answering call lights promptly
17. Assisting and completing hygiene needs for patient
18. Perform visual acuity testing
19. Stock and clean unit as needed

*Minimum Qualifications:*

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent (Preferred)

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
Cardiac Rhythms Class within 1 year of employment.

1 year in healthcare experience (Preferred)
