Overview

Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.

Prepares endoscopy patient and provides care in the Endoscopy Room by performance of routine and delegated duties. Assists during examinations, treatments, and general procedures.

Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.

Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.

*Minimum Education*
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Graduate of a one year Surgical Technology program, Certified Nursing Assistant I course, or Licensed Practical Nurse program required.
Course completion from Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA ) preferred

*Minimum Work Experience*
Previous experience working as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Surgical Technician, or Licensed Practical Nurse preferred.

*Required Skills*
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)

Licenses: Licensed in the State of North Carolina to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse

Certified Nursing Assistant I currently listed with the NC Department of Facility Services (NCDHSR)

Certified Surgical Technologist currently listed with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred
