**Description**

**THE ROLE**

The Executive Director is accountable for leadership, direction, and administration of the Providence Spokane Heart Institute across the delivery system including operational responsibility for ambulatory clinics. This position is accountable for the outcomes of the program to ensure efficient, high quality, coordinated, patient focused care across all settings. The position builds relationships with all stakeholders resulting in compassionate care and committed teams across the delivery system. Work is completed with a thorough understanding of and commitment to the Providence Core Values and Leadership Model. The Director will be an integral part of the Health Care Delivery Network team. The Director will actively collaborate with other PHC Divisions/Teams to achieve desired outcomes for the whole organization. The Director will make decisions affecting strategy, implementation and management of resources. In partnership with the Lead Physician for the Providence Spokane Heart Institute and physician leaders in cardiology, cardiovascular surgery, and vascular surgery, this leader will be accountable for development and execution of the strategy and oversight of performance. In this role, the Director will:

Provide leadership for strategic planning, clinical excellence, fiscal accountability, patient satisfaction, operational effectiveness and positive relationships with other departments, members of the medical staff, physician practices and all stakeholders within the scope and span of control.

Develop financial, clinical, and service performance measures for the programs across the delivery system.

Partner with PMG physicians and aligned medical staff to ensure the presence of an on-going quality improvement program by providing leadership for patient safety, quality improvement, service excellence, physician satisfaction and program growth and development.

Be accountable for creating a delivery system that meets the cardiovascular needs of the Inland Northwest and beyond through partnership with other providers across the region.

Develop and maintain productive working relationships with all key constituents inside and outside of the organization.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

+ Assess markets and determine areas of opportunity/threat within program. Based on analysis, develop recommendations for the program and service development or expansion.

+ Collaborate effectively across programs, hospitals and with all clinical and business divisions to develop and/or enhance programs and service delivery in a coordinated way to best serve patients and community.

+ Manage the overall budget and performance for PSHI across the delivery system.

+ Collaborate with finance to develop pricing strategies in each market. Define expectations for price point determination of appropriate costs of services through analysis of input costs, standardization, evidence based protocols, delivery in lower cost settings, etc.

+ Anticipate and respond to changing market opportunities in ultimate pursuit of a population management strategy that is actuarially sound.

+ Collaborate with Providence physicians and other aligned physicians to develop systems of care for to meet the Cardiovascular needs of the region.

+ Engage physician leadership in the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of program goals and objectives across the integrated system and with key physician groups in the market.

+ Responsible for the development of clinical services in the Region in coordination with the PHC Senior Executive Team. Defines clinical services based on market and data analysis, identifies greatest opportunity and recommends appropriate infrastructure required to support new services and or models of care.

+ Develop and coordinate program strategies for delivery of outreach services in concert with the PHC Director of Regional Network Development and Outreach.

+ Represent service lines/programs on key committees for formulation of strategies and tactics to achieve critical performance improvement in health care delivery.

+ Partner with key MD leaders to maintain strong, collaborative relationships across the continuum and develops succession plans.

+ Create and engage high performing teams around key initiatives without direct line authority for staff. Gains trust and build strong relationships across the continuum of responsibility and authority.

+ Establish priorities for program marketing development and outreach designed to support growth.

+ Develop research strategies within program, provides implementation plans, and monitors financial and scientific outcomes.

+ Identify strategic philanthropic priorities and partners with PHC Foundation to achieve targeted goals.

+ Manage in a complex environment.

+ Maintain connective experience of care across continuum.

+ Develop marketing strategy to grow the program.

+ Provide strategic direction to implement new technology and balance with investment and capital.

+ Create strong physician alignment models across the continuum and in a competitive environment.

+ Demonstrate transparency.

+ Harness and leverage resources to support the growth strategy.

+ Engage physician leaders and other key stakeholders in programmatic operations.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Health care, business, economics or related field

+ Master’s Degree (preferred)

+ 7 years of management or administrative experience in health care, preferably in an integrated health delivery network

+ Solid financial background gained through both operations and business planning

+ Ability to develop strong working relationships with physicians and other health care professionals

+ Working knowledge of healthcare reimbursement principles, information systems, cost management, quality management, culture of excellence and change management

+ Understand and be comfortable in a matrix structured environment

+ Understand the needs and preferences of populations served and manage the efficiency and quality of services for a patient population across service lines and divisions, in concert with physician partners

+ Process information, adapt quickly to changing healthcare environment and have ability to lead projects (from conception to implementation)

+ Change Management

+ Cognitive and strategic thinking skills

+ Strong oral and written communications skills

+ Prioritize and organize work in an accurate and timely manner

+ In depth knowledge of healthcare business operations specific to Cardiovascular care.
