Overview
Under the supervision of the clinical staff, the Exercise Physiologist is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the exercise component of the program and for reviewing patient history, presenting lectures, and writing exercises prescription.
Exercise physiologist position will be shared in the Cardiac and Pulmonary setting.
In the execution of job duties, it is the universal expectation that all tasks are performed with a patient centered focus, while also seeking opportunities to continually improve core processes. Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need, which may include but is not limited to: holidays, extended shifts, night and/or weekend shifts, standby and/or on-call. Minimum EducationRequired: Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science, Physical Therapy, or Allied Health.Preferred: Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology
Required SkillsCertifications:Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (may be obtained within 6 months of employment)Required: X Current license to practice in the state of Virginia (Physical Therapists only)
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Ability to relate to patient/resident/customer and their families in a positive and supportive manner. Ability to design and implement exercise programs for a variety of different populations/ diagnoses. Ability to demonstrate proper use of exercise equipment.
Minimum Work ExperienceRequired: 2 years’ experience in cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation programs
