Position Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Patient Financial Services Director and Patient Access Manager, according to established policies and procedures, maintains and processes all assigned patient accounts, using a computer, and counsels patients regarding the admitting and discharging processes and payment alternatives. Work is of a confidential nature.
Essential Functions:
1. Greet patients and their families in accordance with facility Standards of Care, providing excellent customer service.
2. Adhere to all financial and cash control policies and procedures.
3. Maintain patient confidentiality by securely scanning and managing Protected Health Information (PHI).
4. Process all Financial Assistance applications, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
5. Accurately enter payment lines into the billing system.
6. Manage deposit functions as needed.
7. Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding billing inquiries, concerns and/or payment options.
8. Collaborate with Medicaid Eligibility Advisors to assist uninsured patients in coverage options.
9. Document all account activity with clear and concise encounter comments.
10.Escalate complex problems and concerns to the Patient Financial Services Director (PFSD) and Patient Access Manager (PAM).
11.Participate in service presentations and complete all mandatory education, including but not limited to: infection control, patient safety, quality improvement, MSDS, OSHA standards, HIPAA, and Code of Conduct.
12.Utilize the occurrence reporting system to report potential patient safety issues.
13.Generate and analyze daily reports.
