Hatchery Maintenance Tech

The Hatchery Maintenance Tech is responsible for priority repairs and maintenance in a timely and efficient manner in our facility. This individual will utilize their experience with electrical, motor controls, mechanical, forklift, welding equipment, electric drill, electric meter, wrenches, and screwdrivers to assist the hatchery maintenance team with day-to-day operations in our hatchery and ensure the up keep of our equipment. This individual will be required to drive when needed. This individual must be able to perform hands-on maintenance. This position requires strong troubleshooting skills and familiarity working with hatchery equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Completes day-to-day maintenance of the facility’s grounds, hatchery, and equipment.
- Ability to walk and move constantly, use hands for the entire work shift, lift more than 60 lbs, push/pull up to 60 lbs. occasionally; bend, stoop and squat, grip small objects, and be capable of repeated actions in order to complete job duties;
- Possesses general knowledge of machinery and works with a variety of tools and equipment including, but not limited to a forklift, welding equipment, electric drill, electric meter, wrenches, and screwdrivers.
- Demonstrates problem-solving and troubleshooting skills while multi-tasking and working with tight deadlines.
- Demonstrate strong communication and collaborative skills, working extensively with team members.
- Performs work that requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, and the use of numerous tools.
- Works up to and including but not limited to 40 hours+ hours per week with the ability to adapt time and efforts to high priority areas, availability for a required On-Call rotation schedule.
- Follows and adheres to the Company’s policies and regulations of biosecurity, animal welfare, and safety.
- Exhibits safe work habits and use of safety equipment and PPE when necessary.
- Fully understands how to operate the Box Truck and Sprinter Van safely when delivering poults and picking up materials for the hatchery
- Always ensures company vehicles are kept clean.
- Notifies Manager of any major maintenance or delivery issues encountered.
- Follows delivery schedule and rest at appropriate times.
- Maintains detailed driving and delivery logs.
- Obeys all applicable traffic laws and drive in accordance with the weather/road conditions.
- Understands this description is not exhaustive of all tasks and may include other duties and projects as assigned by direct supervisor.
Requirement
- A minimum of two years of experience in Maintenance is required.
- Must possess a valid California Driver’s License and an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift more than 60 lbs., push/pull up to 60 lbs., bend and squat, grip small objects, and be capable of repeated actions.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods on different surfaces, including concrete.
- Must have good hand-eye coordination.
- Does not own backyard poultry, swine, operate around poultry, or operate around swine off duty.
- Knowledge and experience in animal husbandry and welfare preferred.
- Specific knowledge of turkeys and turkey breeding desired.
- Ability to read and interpret relevant technical, industry, and government regulations and legislation and demonstrate excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in environment that is exposed to dust, humidity, heat and cold; and to have excellent hand-eye coordination for repairing the machines.
- Has to have good business judgment, make quick decisions and work under pressure.
- Bi-lingual Spanish speaking skills a plus

Successful completion of a drug screen and work achievement verification required.
Salary Description $30000 – 50000
