Overview
**Description**
The Health Unit Coordinator provides clerical support for the assigned nursing unit and works with the Health Information Management Team to maintain patient/resident records. Responsibilities include: answering phones in a professional manner; greeting visitors; keeping patient/resident records current and organized; entering/transcribing physician’s orders; completing lab slips and arranging for transportation and appointments. All duties are performed in a manner that promotes team, and creates a welcoming environment for patients/families. This position works closely and collaboratively with the Resident Care Managers and nurses, social services and other members of the interdisciplinary team. Interfaces with residents/patients, and families.

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Coursework/Training Completion of medical terminology training within first year of hire, if hired without clinical experience.
+ Experience using computer with Microsoft Windows including Word, Outlook and Excel.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 1 year Administrative support experience.
+ Experience as a certified medication aide or similar clinical experience.
+ Experience with or training in ICD-10 coding.

**About the Team**
Providence Home and Community Care (HCC) is a service line within Providence with over 8,000 caregivers and 2,000 volunteers serving nearly 200,000 people a year, in their homes, in clinics and in a variety of congregate living ministries across our seven-state footprint.
