Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talent to fill the position of HIM Tech/Specialist for our Health Information Management Department. This job is permanent, full time.

*Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following:*
* Assembles and analyzes the record for chart completion deficiencies, in accordance with regulatory requirements and medical staff rules and regulations.
* Ensures any deficiencies are assigned to the appropriate medical staff member and data is entered for tracking and monitoring purposes.
* Reviews documentation and updates or clears the deficiencies as appropriate.
* Responsible for answering telephone calls and assisting visitors (including but not limited to physicians, patients, and their family members), while maintaining confidentiality.
* Performs release of information in accordance with HIPAA and state release of information laws.
* Performs daily scanning duties of patient charts into electronic health record and quality assurance audits to ensure appropriate location within record.
* Performs all State of TN monthly and quarterly reporting
* Performs daily monitoring of IMmodal Transcription and monthly audits
*Minimum Education:*
High school diploma or equivalent:

Associate’s degree in Health Information Management or related field:

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
