**Job Summary**

The Innovation Strategist will manage a variety of commercialization and innovation projects to promote Sanford’s vision. They will collaborate with leaders and multidisciplinary teams on innovation and commercialization projects to benefits our patients, team members, and communities. They engage innovators and industry partners to source commercialization opportunities and accelerate commercialization of new products or business ventures that are aligned with Sanford’s strategic priorities. They will drive impactful change in the organization through identification, implementation, and scaling of innovative ideas and partnerships throughout the enterprise. As part of Sanford Health’s vision and strategy to be the premier rural health system in the U.S., the focus around innovation and commercialization will be to promote Sanford inventors through a focus on IP development and commercialization, along with creating value for patients and consumers through new partnerships and ventures. This individual will help drive healthcare transformation by making innovative ideas a reality within the organization through advancement of innovation and commercialization projects.

Drives the innovation process by understanding clinical or operational challenges, engaging with stakeholders, conducting market research, identifying innovative solutions, developing a business case, and assisting with implementation of solutions.

Leads cross-functional teams through the day-to-day project activities required to design, implement, and deliver innovation projects across the enterprise. Serves as a resource for stakeholders and external partners to implement and scale innovation projects. Monitors innovation project success through tracking of KPIs and other metrics defined in the business case.

Leads the evaluation of Sanford Health inventions, including assessment of market opportunity, competitors, and patentability. Contacts, advises, and educates innovators regarding the commercialization process at Sanford. Markets technologies to identify potential licensees, developing and implementing specific strategies for each technology, seeking out appropriate industry contacts, and engaging with potential partners or licensees. Initiates and manages negotiations for licensing agreements and other related contracts.

Builds and maintains strong relationships with innovators, caregivers, patients, and industry partners to achieve goals and strategic initiatives. Promotes Sanford’s culture of innovation through enterprise-wide interactions, education, and industry collaborations.

Develops and maintains productive working relationships with cross-functional project teams and external providers/vendors integral to the departments innovation and commercialization goals. Skillful and flexible at managing change. Possesses excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral communications. Possesses excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Independently manages processes and tasks with minimum direction. Is consistent and follows through on commitments. Broadens scope into other areas.

**Qualifications**

Bachelor’s degree in life science, engineering, health science, business or related field.

Three to five years’ experience developing or commercializing IP, working in an incubator or accelerator, and advancing ideas into early-stage growth companies is preferred.
