JOB SUMMARY

Directs the department’s activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives.

Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.

Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.

Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.

Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform other duties as assigned.• Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-service, projects and committees as assigned.• Adheres to and supports policies and procedures of the STRHS.• Maintains a neat and professional appearance in compliance to the existing dress code.

ORGANIZATIONAL EXPECTATIONS

• Compliance to the STRH – Lawrenceburg Standards of Performance is required.• Compliance to Dress Code Standards• Maintains regulatory compliance in departmental operations, including, but not limited to, The Joint Commission, CMS, federal financial regulations, and Tennessee state regulations.• Maintains competency in skills related to the operation of department and in leadership and management competencies.

Displays proven servant leadership attributes with co-workers and colleagues, customers, physicians, and employees. Participates in, and is engaged in, leadership activities that serve employees, such as the Service Excellence Team (SET).

Represents the facility in community activities in a positive and professional manner.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum EducationX Associate’s degree Required
X Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required
X Bachelor’s degree Preferred

Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:X Basic Life Support (BLS)X Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of hireX Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
Licenses: Current and active Registered Nurse license in the State of Tennessee.
