Position Summary:
* Performstechnicalandclericalfunctionsinoneormoresectionsofthelaboratory.
* Requirescriticalthinkingskills,decisivejudgmentandtheabilitytoworkwithminimalsupervision.
* Mustbeabletoworkinastressfulenvironmentandtakeappropriateaction.
* Assists with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.
* Maintains adequate stock of supplies.
* Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
* Performsclericaldutiesincludingansweringphones,dataentry,andfiling.
* Communicatestestresultstoappropriatehealthcareproviders
* Obtains venous and capillary blood specimens.
* Performscollectionofotherphysiologicsamplesasrequiredsuchasbleedingtimes,sweatchlorides,and therapeuticphlebotomies.
* Preparesandassurestransportofspecimenstolaboratoryforanalysis. Pneumatic tubeusage.
* Performs and results waived testing procedures after training and successful competency evaluation.
* IdentifiesproblemswhichmayadverselyaffecttestperformanceorreportingoftestresultsandnotifiesMLT, MT,supervisorordirectorimmediately.
* Follows laboratory’s established policies and procedures.
* Documentsanycorrectiveactiontakenwhensituationdeviatesfromestablishedcharacteristicsonthe remedial/correctiveactionlogs.
* NotifiesMT,supervisorofimmediateconcerns.
* Load analyzers for Technologist
