*Position Summary*
Assists the department director in the day-to-day management of departmental operations and personnel management. The supervisor must be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and accreditation standards and will maintain the departmental policies and procedures in support of these standards and other organizational initiatives. Coordinates the laboratory Quality Control, Proficiency Testing and inventory programs.

*Responsibilities of the Position*
Ensures laboratory operates in compliance with all relevant federal, state and local regulations and all company policies and procedures.
Reviews all necessary laboratory documentation to ensure compliance with standards including policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Maintains technical skills within all areas of the laboratory.
Performs quality control for all procedures. Posts, or verifies results on computer and takes action when indicated by the values.
Enters and retrieves data from LIS as necessary.
Maintains inventory as necessary.
Assists director with schedules, interviews and hiring recommendations.
Assists with orientation and training of personnel and students.
Prepares periodic reports as requested.
Monitors department charges and chargemaster.
Performs annual review of department policies and procedures.
Always operates equipment and performs job related duties in a safe manner.
Performs tests and related duties exhibiting high quality of performance and timeliness.
Works closely with Lead Techs to ensure compliance with proficiency testing, maintaining policy/procedures, quality control and inventory.
Verifies correct patient identification using two unique identifiers prior to blood drawing and during patient testing.
Consistently recognizes and prioritizes multiple stats or critical patient tests.
Always immediately communicates critical values per policy.
Accurately completes all procedures scheduled during the shift.
Completes work left from previous shift and assists others as needed.
At shift change, communicates lab status and/or problems.
Demonstrates culturally appropriate interventions regarding age, gender, geographic population and race.
Exhibits good working knowledge and logic in troubleshooting and repair of instruments. Does routine and preventative instrument maintenance as scheduled and documents appropriately.
Perform duties at either facility as needed.
*Minimum Education*
Bachelor’s degree required in Laboratory Science or related field.
*Certifications/Licenses*
Registry is required by AMT, ASCP, HEW, HHS, or NCA.
Current BLS certification through American Heart Association is preferred.
*Minimum Work Experience*
3 years’ supervisory experience.
3 years’ experience as a Medical Technologist.
