Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Emergency Department
PRN I (Minimum 1 shift/pay period,1 weekend shift/month, 1 holiday/year)
Position Summary:
* As supervised and delegated by a registered nurse,providesdirect patient carein accordance withapplicablescopeandstandards of practice.
* Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.
* Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, aswell as other medical caretreatment.
* Documents patient care given.
* Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate tocare team, physician, patient, and family.
* Assistspatients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, andambulation.
* Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge,referraland spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
* Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family andprovidespatient/family educationappropriate toage, culture, condition, and circumstances.
* Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
* Assists RN with development of plan of care.
* Monitors, documents, and communicates patient’s status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician,patientand families.

Minimum Qualifications:
* Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Virginia Board of Nursing or compact staterequired
* Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) American Heart Associationrequiredor within six (6) months of hire
* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) American Heart Association OR Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification
* (ENPC) Emergency Nurse Associationrequiredor within six (6) months of hire
* Trauma Nurse Certification Course (TNCC) X Emergency Nurse Association preferred
* Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Associationrequired
* Requires critical thinking skills, decisivejudgmentand the ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Must be able towork in a stressful environment and takeappropriate action.
* Requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.
