**Job Summary**
The Master Electrician plans, organizes, and directs the day-to-day electrical operations. Oversees major and minor project work related to electrical systems. May assist with minor project work related to power generation systems, which may include generator testing. Responsible for providing electrical, computer, and telephone wiring assistance services in a safe, professional manner employing all current, acceptable practices. Coordinates and supervises contract services to perform electrical layout for all assigned projects.
Coordinates, plans, communicates and executes utility shutdowns for repairs, adjustments or replacement. Must be knowledgeable in trade procedures and practices. May be required to assist other Construction Services trades to complete projects. May assist with data and telephone wiring assistance services. Must be able to differentiate colors precisely. Experience in the electro/mechanical or electrical/pneumatic control field.
Basic knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and applications and controls, installation and repair necessary. Adept in the use of hand tools, gauges, engineering metering and measuring devices. Must be able to work from blueprints, schematics and technical manuals. Must be able to explain conditions and situations accurately when troubleshooting. Must be familiar with and able to comply with National Electric Codes as well as Local City Codes. Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.
**Qualifications**
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Must have a minimum of two years work experience in electrical related field. A graduate of an accredited trade school, vocational or military training program is preferred. Must have thorough knowledge of electricity, electrical systems, fire alarm systems, and various testing equipment.
Must be licensed as a Master Electrician in the state of Minnesota. Must complete sufficient training to achieve a Minnesota
class “C” boiler license within three years of hire.
