*Position Summary: The Materials Tech provides support services to all departments within the facility.
The Materials Tech also has the responsibility for monitoring freight and product documentation.
He/She supports the Market Director and Supervisor to coordinate all Material Management day to day operations and ensure all policies and procedures are followed. *
Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and The Joint Commission (TJC) standards and/or standards from other accrediting bodies.Participates in department staff meetings as appropriate.Works as scheduled and reports for duty on time.Complies with allotted meal/break times, remaining flexible when necessary.Processes supply requests in a prompt, cooperative, and efficient manner.
Maintains physical inventories of incoming freight and comparing the deliver of commodities against packing slip and reconciling items received with purchase orders.Maintains all established departmental and stockroom par level and replenishes/restocks supplies in a timely manner.Ensures all departmental issues are properly recorded and communicated with the Director/Supervisor.Performs departmental and stockroom activities such as restocking par levels, stock rotation, inspecting items for damage and expiration datesEnters the receipt of information into SMART and receives appropriate lines on the purchase order.Ensures departmental designee signs receiving report for all non-stock freight.Ensures the receiving report and packaging report are processed together and sent to Parallon on a weekly basis.Conducts daily inventory of Nursing/Surgery supply carts to determine supply replacement based upon preset par levels using the OptiFlex inventory management system.Enters the surgery and manual count items into SMART MMIS. Recommends modification to supply cart par levels to the Materials Director/Supervisor.Delivers needed supplies to appropriate supply cartsMaterials staff are allowed to manage storage and distribution of plain IV solutions.Fills weekly orders for departments as they are submitted.Answers any phone requests for products and records any inventory adjustments in SMART MMIS.Coordinates cycle counts as needed in supply areas.Notifies the Materials Supervisor/Director of any items/product damage or discrepancies.Handles the shipping of Federal Express and UPS or common carrier freight by ensuring proper packaging, manifesting, and tracking documentation of out-going freight.Maintains an organized, clean and safe department at all times.Performs other duties as requested and assigned.Every effort has been made to make this job description as complete as possible. Minimum Work ExperienceX Minimum of one year experience with medical supplies, equipment, and procedures X PREFERREDX Materials staff must pass an annual competency on handling plain IV solutions.
