Overview
Responsible for dose calculation and distribution as well as accurate machine function as it applies to patient management in the Radiation Therapy department.
Reports to: Director – Radiation Oncology Services
Calculate and plan prescribed radiation treatments as ordered by the Radiation Oncologist.

Applies knowledge and skills in the areas of dose calculation, treatment planning, machine calibration, radiation safety, and federal and state regulations

Provide staff therapists assistance during simulation and obtain contours and special measurements when required during the simulation.

Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.

Chart reviews of on-treatment patients to insure accuracy and completeness. Documents checks and discrepancies according to departmental QA guidelines.
*Minimum Education*
Bachelor’s degree in Dosimetry or Radiation Therapy – Required

Certifications:
BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) – Required within 90 days of hire, if not current upon hire.

Licenses: Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD) or board eligible and obtain within required timeframe (24 months of start in position)
