The Controller reports to the Corporate Controller, and is located in Mansfield, MA.
POSITION SUMMARY:
TriMark USA is the country’s largest provider of equipment, supplies and design services to the foodservice industry. It is private equity owned and has its corporate headquarters outside of Boston, Massachusetts.
We are looking for a Controller with hands-on experience in the distribution industry for our North Region responsible for five divisions at TriMark USA. This role will handle all areas of accounting and finance with a heavy emphasis on the month-end close process, managing General Ledger, liaison with Credit & Collections and FP&A, internal controls/process improvements, and financial reporting. This position will work closely with the Chief Accounting Officer and other executives.
This “hands on” position ensures that financial statements for the region are accurately presented. This individual utilizes the Accounting and Finance staff and problem-solving techniques to achieve desired deadlines. The Controller will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and developing policies and procedures related to the accounting functions. This position requires a CPA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the entire month-end close/calendar, streamline the close process, standardize policies and procedures including review of manual journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, and perform analytical reviews and procedures prior to the regional and corporate reporting deadlines.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Implement improvements to distribution accounting processes and reporting in cooperation with business operations, inventory, and sales team.
- Develop a high-performing accounting team through effective hiring, coaching, development, accountability, and succession planning to support a growing business model.
- Become a power user of our current ERP system, actively participate in our planned implementation of a new system, and work with IT to resolve day-to-day system issues.
- Primary contact for the annual audit with the external auditors and bank compliance reporting.
- Support annual budget and monthly forecasting by working closely with the various department heads according to the company’s business plan.
- Facilitate a culture of accountability and initiative throughout the Company through data-driven feedback, implementation of effective incentive plans, and tracking of strategic initiatives.
- Create efficient, standard, highly controlled processes in the accounting function.
- Develop and implement standards and improvements in the internal control environment.
- Develop, document, and improve all current financial processes (manual and system automated), policies and procedures to build sustainability for growing business segment.
- Provide superior service to both internal and external customers with accurate, complete and timely deliverables.
COMPETENCIES:
- Hands-on ERP experience is essential
- Must have strong technical accounting and understanding of GAAP
- Great management and leadership skills
- Strong knowledge of efficient transactional accounting processes
- Communicate technical financial information in clearly understood terms
- Manage change within an organization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to coach, train and develop accounting staff.
- Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of team members, executives, and managers
- Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of deliverables and work smartly
- Microsoft Office products i.e., Advanced Excel, Word and Outlook
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Hands on experience in distribution industry desired
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
- CPA required
- Systems upgrade or implementation experience a plus
- At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in a multi-location $500M+ business preferred
- Ability to successfully pass a background check
