POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible and accountable for Nuclear Medicine Procedures as appropriate for his/her training/experience and field of study/specialty. The Technologist will be responsible for carrying a clinical workload commensurate with the department’s workload in addition to other assigned duties.

Duties and Tasks
1. Calculate, measure and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals received, used and disposed.
2. Detect and map radiopharmaceuticals in patients’ bodies, using a camera to produce photographic or computer images.
3. Explain test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provide them with assistance during test procedures.
4. Administer radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician
5. Produce a computer generated image for interpretation by a physician
6. Process cardiac function studies, using computer
7. Dispose of radioactive materials and store radiopharmaceuticals, following radiation safety procedures
8. Record and process results of procedures
9. Prepare stock radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to safety standards that minimize radiation exposure to workers and patients.
10. Maintain and calibrate radioisotope equipment

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Graduate of a Radiologic Technology/CNMT program.
2. Registry in all specialty fields is required within one year of practicing within that field.
3. Current American Heart Association BLS maintained.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Ability to lift and move at least 50 pounds.
2. Ability to see colors, see at least 1 mm squares.
3. Ability to reach overhead.
4. Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively and develop priorities during highly stressful situations.
5. Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal media.
6. Ability to move and operate equipment and carry supplies.
