Starr Regional Medical Center is currently seeking talent to fill the position of Nurse Tech for our Women’s Services Department. This job is permanent, full time.

*Core competencies include, but are not limited to the following:*
* Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.
* Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
* Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
* Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.
* Provides appropriate and accurate specimen collections and care of patients based on individual needs.
* Ensures that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy.
* Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.
* Meets with patient or patient’s caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Provides explanation of process and addresses concerns and questions.
* Communicates with admitting physician’s office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement.
* Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as necessary. Determines and accepts required payments, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.
*Minimum Education*
HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience:
