Overview
Responsible for charge entry of observation hours, infusions, IV pushes, SQ/IM injections, and hydration for nursing units. Takes lead role in industrial billing related issues, as assigned, while working closely with Department Directors and contracted vendors.

Responsible for entering charges for observation hours, infusions, hydration, IV pushes, SQ/IM injections.

Work from the daily facilities observation listing using Master Patient Index to determine if patient status has changed to inpatient prior to entering charges.

Determine from the facilities observation listing if patient is still observation or changed to inpatient

Print Medication discharge Summary on observation patients and use the HPHS observation charge sheet to determine number of units to be charged.

Licenses: CPAR Certification or previous experience in hospital billing/charging – Required. RHIT certification or RHIT eligible considered.

Three (3) years previous hospital or healthcare experience in Health Information Management, Revenue Cycle or Nursing – Required
Experience in hospital Outpatient Charging/ Billing and knowledge of CPT Codes – Preferred
