Overview
**Description**
Under the general supervision of the Area Director of Oncology, this position provides financial navigation support for Oncology patients. The oncology financial counselor provides financial navigation to the uninsured, underinsured, patients with high deductibles, and patients with Medicare A/B only, and any other patient group who may require or benefit from these services. Responsible for identifying patients and assisting with completion of applications from patient assistance programs (PAP) and foundations based on diagnosis and chemotherapy medications. Responsible for reducing financial barriers by educating patients on their insurance benefits, including co-pays, deductibles, out of pocket expenses and covered services. Responsible to help our patients to address their financial responsibility and reduce stress related to the cost of treatment. The goal of this position is to provide any and all financial guidance so the patient can focus more on their care rather than the increased stress that financial issues can cause.

**Required qualifications:**
+ Coursework/Training: Training in basic computer operation, such as word processing and Windows.
+ 1 year’ General office experience.
+ Insurance and pre-authorization experience.
+ Patient Assistance program and Foundation experience.
**Preferred qualifications:**
+ 2 years in college.
+ Coursework/Training: Medical Coding training.
+ Associate degree in Health Sciences.
+ Certification in Financial Advocacy upon hire.
