**Description**

Under the direction of the Patient Access Supervisor/Manager/Director, the Senior Patient Services Specialist has a clear understanding and knowledge of all functions performed by Patient Access. They are responsible for, but not limited to, completing the registration process by collecting accurate demographic information, insurance information, obtaining prior authorizations as needed, insurance notification, completion of the financial clearance process and collection of patient liability before, at, or after the time of service. In addition, the Senior Patient Services Specialist acts as a role model and resource for their peers in all aspects of the Patient Access registration and patient experience functions. They serve as a functional expert in the department, identifying trends and areas to be reviewed for process improvement. The Senior Patient Access Services Specialist greets and serves patients, visitors, and caregivers with the highest level of compassion and customer-focused intent so that an exceptional ‘Ease My Way’ experience is provided at every encounter.

The incumbent performs all duties in a manner that promotes the Providence Mission and Values. In all aspects, the incumbent serves as a role model for the values and mission of the organizations. All information is gathered while adhering to regulation and compliance requirements and guidelines and is documented timely and accurately.

**Required Qualifications:**

+ H.S. Diploma or GED

+ 15 hours of Continued Education. Healthcare, Registration, Billing or Professional Development (i.e., team building, process improvement). Healthstream, Rise or outside education at the direction and with the approval of Patient Access leader. This requirement is in addition to education required of all Providence Caregivers.

+ 1 year Providence Patient Access Registration experience

+ Pass (90%) Written Registration Proficiency Exam

+ Pass (90%) Oral Registration Proficiency Exam
