Personal Injury Attorney responsibilities
- Manage personal injury case files comprehensively from initiation to resolution
- Assess potential personal injury claims, offering legal counsel to prospective clients as necessary
- Draft, review, and amend a variety of legal documents including claims, motions, discovery responses, demand letters, pleadings, subpoenas, memorandums, etc.
- Conduct thorough research on case law, premises liability, and gather relevant evidence such as insurance policies, medical expenses, records, etc.
- Facilitate communication with clients, expert witnesses, insurance adjusters, supporting witnesses, and medical providers to collect pertinent information
- Engage in negotiations and pursue suitable settlements on behalf of clients when appropriate
- Represent clients in various legal proceedings including hearings, trials, mediations, depositions, and litigation
- Maintain accurate documentation and regularly update the status of all case files in the case management system
Personal Injury Attorney qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree are mandatory
- Membership in the State Bar Association and active state licensure is required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in personal injury litigation or trial advocacy is essential
- Strong understanding of personal injury law, tort law, medical terminology, wrongful death, civil and family law, and medical malpractice is preferred
- Excellent skills in drafting, research, negotiation, and communication are highly desired
