*Position Summary:** *

Sovah Danville is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Automation Specialist and Staff Trainer under the direction of the Pharmacy Director, who trains the pharmacy staff, oversees pharmacy automation daily operations, and provides technician coverage as needed. The pharmacy automation specialist and staff trainer provide distributive pharmacy services, assist, and support the pharmacist by performing technical aspects of distribution and dispensing of medications. The position requires extensive contact with administration, hospital staff, and non-hospital personnel (vendors, auditors). The pharmacy automation specialist and staff trainer participate in standards of practice and ensure quality and patient safety regarding medication management and process improvement activities. The pharmacy automation specialist and staff trainer is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the hospital’s automated pharmacy dispensing systems and provides user support, performs maintenance activities and troubleshooting, and monitors proper functionality and use of the system.

• Acts as the primary trainer for new pharmacy technicians and interns. Maintains and updates technician training manuals. Assists in training new pharmacist hires. Responsible for ongoing training for current employees so that all staff are operating to the highest level of competence.
• Assists with new hire pharmacy technician performance evaluations; assists with corrective actions needed for pharmacy technicians.
• Responsible for oversight of pharmacy automation including automated dispensing machines (ADMs), temperature monitoring systems, and packing machines.
• Coordinates calibration and preventative maintenance on pharmacy refrigerators, packing machines, temperature monitoring systems, ADMs, Carousels, and CSM vaults.
• Works directly with the Pharmacy Buyer to maintain inventory control.
• Proactively optimizes stock levels of ADMs by analyzing Par vs Usage data and recommends changes to the Pharmacy Director to adjust inventory.
• Assists other technicians in receiving, unpacking, and checking quantities against invoices, and stocking medications, IVs, and supplies under proper conditions.
• Assists pharmacists and technicians and other staff in the safe, effective, and efficient operation of the automated medication distribution process.
• Coordinates pharmacy setup, new builds, installations, and expansions, ensuring that all systems, such as network,
emergency power, space, etc., are ready for a unit to go go live.’
• Communicates the status of system projects, activities, and issues to pharmacy, nursing, and other appropriate staff.
• Ensures that the ADMs are updated to conform with changes to the formulary.
• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in fields of expertise.
• Acts as a role model in demonstrating competency, teamwork, professionalism, loyalty, honesty, organization ethics, people management skills, value-added behavior, staff development, quality improvement standards, conflict resolution abilities, and decisiveness.

* High school diploma or equivalent required.
