Position Summary:
The Prior Authorization Representative reviews all orders to ensure completeness and accuracy. In addition, they will obtain and/or confirm authorization is in place for all procedures via the scheduling process.
Reports to: Patient Access Manager
FLSA: non-exempt
Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; Medical coding or authorization education/training preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS Requires prolonged sitting/standing, bending, stooping, walking, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. The normal range of hearing and eyesight is required to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports or other information. Requires lifting papers/boxes and pushing/pulling up to 25 pounds occasionally. Work is performed in an office environment or hospital setting. Work may be stressful at times. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Staff must remain flexible and available to provide staffing assistance for any/all disaster or emergency situations
