*Position Summary*
Performs routine clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area or office.The goal of this team member is to provide exceptional patient care by assisting in the delivery of medical care with compassion, efficiency, and accuracy.
*Reports to:*Practice Manager
*Responsibilities of the Position:*
* Triages incoming patients; perform CPR and other emergency measures, if necessary.
* Escorts patients to exam rooms; take histories and vital signs, prepare patients for examination.
* Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection.
* Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.
* Assists providers in examination and treatment of patients, minor surgeries, and physicals.
* Stock and set-up exam rooms with necessary equipment and supplies.
* Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
* Processes referral and prior authorization requests in accordance with company protocol.
* Utilizes electronic medical software to record patient information in compliance with HIPAA / confidentiality guidelines.
* Dispenses medication as directed by providers.
* Collects and processes lab specimens.
* Performs glucose monitoring.
* Provides wound care and perform suture removal as directed by providers.
* Communicates with the patient, pharmacy, and physician inquiries within the scope of the practice; involve provider as needed.
* Performs accurate and timely input of data into EMR and Clockwise.
* Administers IM, SQ, and oral medications as trained under the direction of the provider.
* Administers aerosol treatments.
* Applies splints and dressings.
* Administers oxygen therapy.
* Prepares patients for radiological procedures and take x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
* Protects patients, staff, and self from radiation exposure by practicing sound procedures which meet or exceed industry standards.
* Obtains quality diagnostic radiographs as requested by providers and maintain a repeat rate of 2% of less.
* Develops and processes radiological film.
* Logs completed radiological procedures, completing paperwork accurately and on time and identifying all filling reports as required.
* Ensures that all radiological equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, immediately reporting any equipment malfunction to the Practice Manager.
* Performs urine, saliva, hair, and breath alcohol drug screens after successful completion of drug screen training provided by a certified instructor chosen by MedAccess.
* Other tasks and duties as assigned.
*Minimum Education:*
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Two years of college is preferred.
Successful completion of training as a medical assistant is preferred.
*Certifications/Licenses:*
Certifications: CurrentAART x-ray certification is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association is required upon hire.
*Required Skills*
Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
