Overview

**Description**

Research Scientist independently performs research activities; acts in the role of principal investigator on smaller grants, and co-investigator on larger grant-funded health services research projects. They collaborate with other scientists and managers from a variety of disciplines, both within and external to Providence Health & Services. Responsibilities include conducting complete research project, raising grant funds to support research and managing grant budgets, oversight of project staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements governing research.

**Required Qualifications:**

+ Master’s Degree Sociology, Public Health, Health Services, Psychology, Epidemiology, or related field. Or

+ Ph.D. Sociology, Public Health, Health Services, Psychology, Epidemiology, or related field.

+ Experience writing and publishing research articles in peer review journals.

+ 7 years Master’s and Seven years of experience in health services research or related industry. (A Ph.D. may be substituted for this requirement. If currently enrolled in a Ph.D program, work experience may be concurrent, but must include 3 years of experience in health services research or related industry.)

+ 6 years Master’s and Six years of grant writing experience for health services research, including all applicable regulatory requirements that govern such research. (A Ph.D. may be substituted for this requirement. If currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program, work experience may be concurrent, but must include 2 years of grant writing experience for health services research, including all applicable regulatory requirements that govern such research.)

+ 6 years Master’s and Six years of experience developing and leading research projects. (A Ph.D. may be substituted for this requirement. If currently enrolled in a Ph.D. program, work experience may be concurrent, but must include 2 years of experience as an investigator developing and leading research projects.).

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
