*Position Summary*
The Nursing Supervisor coordinates the activities of the hospital on evening/night/weekend shifts to maintain 24-hour nursing administrative coverage. The Nursing Supervisor supervises and directs nursing personnel and monitors staffing and skill mix for appropriate staffing levels in the absence of the Nursing Director. Serves as a clinical resource for the nursing staff, assisting with problem solving in determining interventions as appropriate for the patient age and clinical situation. Serves as a resource for Charge Nurses.
*Minimum Education*
Successful completion of the Nursing Diploma Program or an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school is required.
*Required Skills*
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
*Certifications/License*
Requires a current unencumbered North Carolina or compact state Registered Nurse license upon hire. Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days of hire; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required within 6 months of employment.
*Minimum Work Experience*
Experience and expertise in management either in front line or shift supervisory work. Recommend 2-3 years of recent experience a healthcare setting.
