Overview
Administers respiratory therapy care and life support to patients with deficiencies and abnormalities of the cardiopulmonary system, under the supervision of a physician and by prescription. Applies the cardiopulmonary process to plan and implement the care of patient, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to the health care team. Collaborates in establishing patient goals and evaluates progress to ensure effective outcomes.
Essential Functions
Establishing treatment plans, operating medical equipment, record patients medical histories and symptoms, collect, analyze and integrate patient information in order to identify and meet the patient specific needs.
Working with a variety of patients, from neonatal to geriatric
Consulting with physicians and other healthcare professionals
Performs routine Respiratory Care
Establishing treatment pans, operating medical equipment
Administering medications and treatments.
Record patients medical histories and symptoms
Set up plans for patients care of contribute to existing plans
Observe patient and record observation
Knowledge of medical equipment used in the care of the patient
Teach patients and their families how to manage illnesses or injuries
Explain what to do at home after treatment
Performs Electrocardiograms, Holter Monitoring and Scanning, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, attends all C-Sections and high risk deliveries of newborn, Arterial Blood Gas sticks, Capillary sticks, Analyzation of Arterial Blood Gases, Cord Blood Gases, Capillary Blood Gases and Carboxyhemoglobin. Maintenance and troubleshooting of the Arterial Blood Gas Analyzer, Pulmonary Function Studies, Electroencephalograms, Stress Testing, Cardiac Rehabilitation.
Full-time employees are required to take a weekend call once every six weeks and in the Cardiopulmonary Directors absence.
PRN employees will be ask to take call periodically and work one holiday annually.
Maintain work areas in a clean organized and well supplied manner
Able to perform other duties as assigned
*Minimum Education*
Equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or successful completion of AARC approved Certification Program.
*Required Skills*
Standard patient care equipment, computer documentation
The ability to work well under pressure to function dependently and independently.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) Certifications may be obtained within 30 days of hire.
