**Description**

**Senior Clinical Ethicist *Hybrid***

The senior ethicist has responsibility to promote the field of applied health care ethics through ethics consultation, education, research and scholarship, and advancing excellence and professionalism in the field. This position is actively engaged in bringing ethics to bear on increasingly larger health care issues that face society and the ministries. The senior ethicist manages some of the daily ethics-related operations for designated ministries across communities served by those ministries. The role plays an important part in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programming and services related to clinical, organizational, and investigational ethics. In addition, the senior ethicist serves as a resource across the division and the system as appropriate on matters related to health care ethics; this includes but not limited to dimensions of Catholic and organizational identity in moral matters, whole person care, health equity, and social justice. The senior ethicist collaborates with clinical and administrative leaders as well as local mission leaders to improve the ethical climate of the ministries. This position works Hybrid, so the expectation is that the person hired will work on site some time each week at locations around Seattle.

**Required Qualifications:**

+ Ph.D. Ethics / Moral Theology / Bioethics / Health Care Ethics or equivalent combination of education and experience

+ (equivalent education/experience includes: Clinical or applied doctorate (e.g., MD/DO, JD, DNP, PharmD, PsychD, etc.) or similar and Master’s level work in healthcare ethics)

+ Within 90 days of hire Healthcare Ethics Consultation – Certified (HEC-C)

+ 5 years Clinical experience as ethicist in a health care or related organization, including academic institutions, preferred experience in Catholic health care.

+ 3 years as a teaching scholar with an expertise in ethics, and evidence of mentor and colleague with a clear commitment to enhancing the distinctive mission and quality of health care ethics.

+ 3 years Experience in teaching adult learners and curriculum development

+ 5 years Research skills in humanities and/or empirical study, as well as writing and delivering professional presentations.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

+ 2 years Experience as a fellow or other form of mentorship and preceptorship of professionally trained ethicists.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
