Directs clinical and support services staff. Functions as a member of the administrative management team in all aspects of Surgery and Perianesthesia management.

Clinical Operations
* As part of the management team, collaborates to ensure personnel policy development and communication to staff.
* Develops, in conjunction with staff and providers, proper clinical protocols that ensure patient safety, comfort, and quality.
* With the Medical Director, develops appropriate admission and discharge procedures and assures that pre-admission criteria are appropriately met.
* Directs the preparation and administration of clinical budget, making certain the clinical units are operated within approved budget; reports variances and makes adjustments as recommended/necessary.
* Evaluates ongoing patient care and reports significant patient problems to other members of the management team.
* Serves as resources and role model for core leaders and clinical staff.
* As part of administrative management team, plans, recommends, initiates, implements and evaluates new initiatives.
* With the Medical Director, coordinates and maintains development and maintenance of all activities related to clinical record keeping. Assigns responsibility for maintenance of a medical records systems which ensures:
◦ confidentiality
◦ unique identification of each patient’s records
◦ timely retrieval of individual records upon request
◦ supervision of the collection, processing, maintenance, storage, retrieval, and distribution of records
◦ maintenance of a pre-determined secured and organized record format
Human Resource Management
* Collaborates with Perioperative Services Director and other departments in problem solving techniques.
* Promotes team approach to patient care and teamwork.
* As part of administrative management team, develops center goals. Interprets goals to clinical staff.
* Works closely with Perioperative Services Director, Medical Director, and (others) to ensure smooth operations within a cooperative teamwork.
* Assures appropriate educational programs for maintenance of strong clinical skills among clinical staff.
* Assures cross training of clinical staff to ensure proper staffing and utilization.
* Oversees clinical staff orientation to assure strong clinical performance.
* Develops policies, procedures, and processes, which promote efficient utilization of clinical staff and facility resources.
* Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, orients, evaluates and counsels clinical staff to ensure clinical staff exemplifies the vision and mission of the center. Notifies Perioperative Services Director of significant problems as appropriate.
* Develops, maintains and adjusts clinical staffing model to meet the health care needs of patients. Assures labor productivity targets are met. All variances are reported and justified to the Perioperative Services Director.
Quality Improvement and Patient Satisfaction
* With the Medical Director, assures that quality patient care is delivered through establishment of Quality Improvement monitoring and benchmarking.
* Develops ways to enhance utilization of clinical services.
* As part of administrative management team, develops methodology to measure and continually improve customer/patient satisfaction.
* Applies QI techniques to improve overall performance of clinical departments.
* Develops and maintains monitoring system to assure physician satisfaction.
* Ensures that all clinical processes meet and /or exceed all regulatory agency guidelines.
Administrative Activities
* Works closely with management team members to delineate and accomplish marketing strategies.
* Works cooperatively with contract service personnel to provide high quality cost effective ancillary and support services to the Center and its patients.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Health Care Administration. Or
+ Upon hire: Washington Registered Nurse License
+ Upon hire: National Provider BLS – American Heart Association
+ Nursing management experience, preferably in an operating room setting.
**Preferred qualifications:**
+ Master’s Degree Nursing or Health Care Administration.
+ Certification in Specialty area (i.e. Operating Room, Perianesthesia, Management)
