Overview
The Senior Nursing Director oversees the nursing staff and overall nursing operations of their healthcare facility. Their duties include evaluating and directing all nursing employees, establishing goals for the nursing department, and creating and enforcing compliant healthcare policies.
*Reports to: Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)*
*Minimum Education:*
At least three-five years’ experience at a nursing director level or greater preferred.
Master’s degree of nursing required.
*Required Skills:*
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
Requires critical thinking, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Knowledge of nursing principles, theories, and practice standards with verbal interpersonal and quantitative skills.
*Licenses:*
Valid North Carolina (NC) or compact state registered nurse (RN) license.

* Ensures continuous and timely nursing services to patients
* Ensures nursing standards, practices, and policies, and procedures, in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation requirements are consistent with current research findings and national professional standards
* Sustain regulatory compliance/survey readiness CMS/TJC
* Actively participates in hospital leadership functions
* Collaborates with hospital leaders to design and provide patient care and services, including availability of sufficient, qualified nursing staff
